Peplink Synergy Mode: Connecting Multiple Routers Together

Categories: Advanced, Peplink Resources

Peplink Synergy Mode

Peplink Synergy Mode allows you to seemlessy connect multiple Peplink Routers together and manage them from one single dashboard. This basically allows you to extend your WAN and LAN capability beyond what is offered with just a single router.

Peplink Synergy Mode was introduced in Firmware 8.3, and is included with an active PrimeCare subscription.

Why Use Multiple Routers?

Why would anyone want to use more than one router to get technomadically connected? There are many reasons why you might want to connect more than one Peplink router together.

For most people - one is indeed enough.

But consider the potential benefits that might come from adding more gear to your arsenal:

  • More WAN Options - Sometimes you just want more connections than your current router can provide, whether more cellular connections or perhaps you have more Ethernet WAN inputs than you can manage easily otherwise, such as Starlink and a T-Mobile Home Internet router that you want to bond together.
  • Inside Wi-FI LAN / Outside WiFi-as-WAN - Wi-Fi radios struggle to host a local LAN network while simultaneously connecting upstream to a Wi-Fi network provided by a campground or marina. A second router's Wi-Fi radio could be dedicated to WAN usage, leaving your primary router to focus on your LAN needs.
  • Dual 5G, Cheaper - If you are craving the redundancy of dual 5G - it is hard not to notice that two single cellular MAX BR1 routers cost less than a single dual-5G MAX BR2.

But the most likely reason we suspect many will explore playing with combining two routers is that it is a GREAT way to put your older router to use when you upgrade to something newer.
