The Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger 12/15 is a professional 12V battery charger designed for efficient, reliable charging from a 120V AC power source. With a 15A charge output, built-in Bluetooth, and Victron’s adaptive charging technology, it is a strong option for maintaining and charging 12V battery banks in RV, marine, automotive, workshop, and off-grid support applications.
Built-in Bluetooth allows the charger to connect directly to the VictronConnect app, where users can monitor voltage and current, adjust charger settings, review charge history, and update firmware when new features become available. This makes the charger easier to configure and monitor without needing a separate display or control panel.
The Blue Smart IP22 uses an adaptive 6-stage charging algorithm: test, bulk, absorption, recondition, float, and storage. This process helps optimize charging based on how the battery is being used. When the battery is not in use, Storage Mode reduces the float voltage to help limit gassing, corrosion, electrolyte stratification, and sulfation, which are common causes of early battery failure in lead-acid batteries.
This charger can also be used with lithium batteries. For Li-ion batteries, it uses a bulk, absorption, and float charging profile. It also includes a fully discharged battery recovery function that can initiate charging even when a battery has been discharged to zero volts, and it can reconnect to a fully discharged Li-ion battery with an internal disconnect function.
For quiet operation, the charger includes NIGHT and LOW modes. In these modes, output current is reduced to a maximum of 50% of the rated output, allowing the charger to operate silently when reduced charging speed is preferred.
The Blue Smart IP22 Charger also supports VE.Smart Networking on compatible units, allowing wireless communication with other Victron Smart devices. When paired with a Smart Battery Sense, Smart Battery Monitor, or SmartShunt, the charger can use battery voltage, temperature, and current data to optimize the charge process. Up to ten compatible chargers can also be synchronized in parallel through a VE.Smart Network, allowing them to work together as one larger charging system.
