The Victron MultiPlus-II 24V 3000VA is a professional-grade inverter/charger for 24V mobile and off-grid power systems. It combines a 120V inverter, battery charger, and automatic transfer switch in one unit, allowing a properly designed battery system to power AC loads and recharge from shore power, generator power, or another compatible AC source.

With 2400 watts of continuous inverter output and 5500 watts of peak power, this MultiPlus-II is built for practical AC power from a 24V battery bank. In real-world mobile use, that often means supporting one major appliance at a time along with smaller background loads such as TVs, wall chargers, fans, lights, routers, Starlink, or a CPAP machine.

This is the standard 120V MultiPlus-II model, not the 2x120V version. It is best suited for systems using a dedicated inverter output circuit, selected load panel, inverter subpanel, or a properly designed AC distribution layout. For 50A RV applications that require both L1 and L2 sides of the coach panel to be powered from a single inverter, the MultiPlus-II 2x120V model is typically the better fit.

What this product does

The MultiPlus-II combines three major functions in one professionally engineered unit.

It works as an inverter, converting 24V DC battery power into 120V AC power for compatible appliances, outlets, electronics, and mobile power loads.

It works as a battery charger, using incoming AC power to recharge the connected battery bank.

It also works as an automatic transfer switch, allowing the system to move between incoming AC power and inverter power. The main AC output transfers quickly when shore power or generator power is disconnected, helping compatible connected loads continue operating with minimal interruption.

In a complete power system, the MultiPlus-II sits between the battery bank, AC input source, and selected AC loads or distribution panel. Solar charging replenishes the battery bank, the batteries store usable energy, and the MultiPlus-II turns that stored energy into 120V AC power.

Why it matters for mobile power

A mobile power system needs more than batteries and solar panels. It needs a reliable way to convert stored energy into usable AC power, recharge from AC sources, manage limited shore or generator input, and integrate with monitoring and control equipment.

The MultiPlus-II handles those jobs in one Victron platform. It can provide inverter power from the battery bank, charge batteries from AC input, transfer between AC sources, and integrate with Victron monitoring and configuration tools.

For most RV and mobile power customers, this is best understood as a strong “one major appliance plus everyday loads” inverter. It can often support one high-demand appliance at a time, along with smaller background loads like TVs, device chargers, Starlink, fans, lights, routers, or a CPAP machine.

High-draw appliances should still be managed intentionally. Electric water heaters, space heaters, air conditioners, microwaves, induction cooktops, and hair dryers can each use a large portion of the inverter’s available output. Running multiple high-demand appliances at the same time may exceed the inverter’s continuous output or require a larger system design.

For larger systems, identical MultiPlus-II units can also be configured in parallel, split-phase, or three-phase arrangements when designed and installed correctly. This allows the MultiPlus-II platform to scale beyond a single inverter/charger installation.

The MultiPlus-II converts 24V battery power into 120V AC power, charges the battery bank from shore or generator power, and automatically transfers between AC input and inverter power.

2400W continuous inverter output

The 24V 3000VA model provides 2400W of continuous output at 77°F / 25°C, 2200W at 104°F / 40°C, and 1700W at 149°F / 65°C. Peak power is 5500W for short startup demands.

70A battery charging

When connected to a suitable AC input source and configured for the battery system, this model provides up to 70A of battery charging current.

50A transfer capability

The MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-50 includes a 50A transfer switch and supports a maximum AC input current of 50A.

PowerControl and PowerAssist

PowerControl helps prevent a shore power or generator source from being overloaded by reducing battery charging when other AC loads need more of the available input power.

PowerAssist can temporarily supplement limited shore or generator power with battery power during short peak-demand periods. When the load drops, available input power can be used to recharge the battery bank.

Fast transfer for connected loads

The main AC output transfers in less than 20 milliseconds when AC input is lost, helping compatible electronics and everyday loads continue operating with minimal interruption.

Two AC outputs

The main AC output supports connected loads from inverter power or incoming AC power. The second AC output is only live when AC input power is available. This can be useful for loads that should not discharge the battery bank, such as an electric water heater or other shore-power-only appliance.

Scalable Victron platform

Multiple identical MultiPlus-II units can be configured for higher-output systems using parallel, split-phase, or three-phase operation when properly designed and configured. This gives the platform room to scale from compact mobile systems to larger power installations.

Victron ecosystem ready

The VE.Bus communication port supports system integration, monitoring, and advanced configurations. Compatible Victron monitoring and configuration options include GX devices, VRM, VictronConnect, MK3-USB, VE.Bus Smart Dongle, battery monitors, and Digital Multi Control panels, depending on the final system design.

Standard 120V model vs. 2x120V model

This product is the standard MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-50 model. It provides 120V AC inverter output and is a strong choice for many mobile power systems, especially those using a dedicated inverter output circuit, selected load panel, or properly designed subpanel.

It is not the MultiPlus-II 2x120V model. It does not provide the 2x120V behavior used in many 50A RV installations to power both L1 and L2 sides of a split coach panel from inverter power.

For customers with a 30A RV, van, boat, trailer, or custom mobile power system, this standard 120V model may be the right fit. For customers with a 50A RV who want inverter power available across both sides of the main coach panel from a single inverter/charger, the MultiPlus-II 2x120V version is usually the better choice.
