Introducing The Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 150/85-Tr VE.Can
The Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 150/85-Tr VE.Can is a high-capacity MPPT solar charge controller built for larger RV, marine, overland, off-grid, and remote power systems that require substantial solar charging capability and advanced system integration. Delivering up to 85A of battery charging current, it is designed for 12V, 24V, 36V, and 48V battery systems, making it suitable for everything from large mobile electrical systems to higher-voltage off-grid installations.
Its 150V PV input class allows installers to build higher-voltage series-connected solar arrays while keeping charging current under control on the battery side. The controller supports nominal PV capacities of up to 1200W at 12V, 2400W at 24V, 3600W at 36V, and 4900W at 48V. This gives system designers significant flexibility when sizing a solar array around available roof space, battery-bank voltage, and expected energy demand.
VE.Can, Bluetooth, and Victron System Integration
The SmartSolar MPPT 150/85-Tr VE.Can is designed for installations where monitoring and system coordination matter. Built-in Bluetooth provides access through the VictronConnect app for configuration, monitoring, and system information, while VE.Direct and VE.Can connectivity allow the controller to integrate with compatible Victron GX devices and larger Victron electrical systems.
VE.Can is particularly valuable in larger solar installations. Compatible MPPT controllers can be daisy-chained and coordinated so multiple chargers move through charging stages together. Victron supports synchronized operation of up to 25 controllers through VE.Can, making this model suitable for expandable off-grid, marine, commercial, and high-capacity mobile power systems.
Best For
- Large RV and motorhome solar systems
- Marine and yacht battery-charging installations
- Overland and expedition electrical systems
- Off-grid cabins and remote power systems
- Expandable Victron systems using Cerbo GX or other GX monitoring devices
