Solar Package 4 Wiring Kit
The Off-Grid Power 4-Panel Solar Wiring Kit provides the DC, photovoltaic, and charge-controller wiring needed to connect the optional 4-panel solar module to a compatible MobileMustHave Off-Grid Power Bundle.
This wiring kit is designed to accompany the complete 4-panel solar add-on module and includes the cable, copper lugs, and adhesive-lined heat shrink needed to connect the solar array, combiner box, solar charge controller, circuit protection, and associated DC equipment according to the detailed MMH wiring diagrams. The solar panels, charge controller, MC4 connectors, fuses, mounting hardware, and other solar equipment are part of the corresponding solar module and are not included in this wiring kit.
All wire supplied in this kit is black. Red and black adhesive-lined heat shrink are included so positive and negative conductors can be clearly identified at their termination points.
Wire quantities are measured in linear feet. All conductors are supplied in black. Red and black heat shrink are used at terminations to designate positive and negative conductors.
The 8 AWG DC cable included in this kit is full-AWG, pure OFC copper cable selected for demanding mobile, marine, RV, battery, inverter, and off-grid power applications. Its flexible stranded construction makes routing easier through mobile installations while providing the copper content required for reliable DC power connections.
The cable carries multiple ratings and approvals, including UL MTW, UL1426 BC5-W2 marine cable, UL THW building wire, UL AWM, and applicable SAE automotive battery cable ratings. It features a durable PVC jacket resistant to oil, water, chemicals, abrasion, and sunlight and carries a UL VW-1 flame-resistance rating.
The rooftop solar-array portion of the kit uses dedicated 10 AWG 600V photovoltaic cable designed specifically for PV installations. The cable uses a stranded copper conductor with durable XLPE insulation and carries UL 4703, RHW-2, and USE-2 ratings.
This PV cable is used for the exposed solar-array wiring where durability, sunlight resistance, and environmental protection are especially important. It is rated for wet and dry locations and is designed for the demanding conditions associated with rooftop photovoltaic installations.
After the PV wiring reaches the solar combiner box, this kit transitions to 10 AWG stranded THHN/THWN-2 copper wire for routing from the combiner box to the solar charge controller. This building wire is smaller and easier to route than the heavier-jacketed PV cable, making it well suited for protected interior wire runs while maintaining the required 10 AWG conductor size.
The included 10 AWG THHN/THWN-2 wire uses a 19-strand bare copper conductor, PVC insulation, and a nylon outer jacket. It is rated for 600V and 90°C, is UL Listed and CSA Certified, and is suitable for wet or dry locations. The nylon jacket is specifically designed to make pulling and routing easier.
The included heavy-duty lugs are manufactured from pure copper and tin plated for corrosion resistance. Their seamless construction, flared barrel, and chamfered opening are well suited for the flexible stranded conductors used throughout mobile DC and solar power systems.
The included lug sizes provide the termination options required at the appropriate charge controller, fuse, disconnect, and distribution connection points shown in the MMH wiring diagrams.
The included red and black heat shrink uses a 3:1 shrink ratio dual-wall construction with a flame-retardant cross-linked polyolefin exterior and hot-melt adhesive interior. When properly heated, the tubing shrinks around the cable termination and forms a durable, flexible, water-resistant seal.
Because this wiring kit uses black cable for both positive and negative conductors, the heat shrink also provides visual polarity identification. Red heat shrink is used to identify positive terminations, while black heat shrink identifies negative terminations as shown in the supplied wiring diagrams.
While this wiring kit can be purchased separately, it is intended primarily to be selected through the MobileMustHave Off-Grid Power Configurator. The configurator automatically matches the appropriate solar module, wiring kit, and supporting components to your selected Off-Grid Power Bundle.
