The Peplink BR1 Mini  LTE-Advanced Primecare Edition is new for 2022 and completely redesigned with an upgraded processor and 300Mbps of router throughput, triple that of the previous model now with a Category 7 cellular modem for improved performance on T-Mobile and AT&T and faster throughput on all cellular networks thanks to added features. The Mini is a complete mobile internet solution for travelers who are looking to use Cellular data as their primary mode of staying connected. This version has a CAT 7 modem (See additional information on Category-7 modems below) for additional cellular band support over the CAT-6 previous version and now has support for LTE-A carrier aggregation. The BR1 Mini accepts sim cards directly into its built-in cellular modem (one modem, 2 slots) that is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon as well as other carriers outside of the U.S. This newer generation BR1 Mini has upgraded WiFi 5 technology with 2.4ghz and 5ghz simultaneous dual-band support and includes optional licensing for enabling WiFi-as-WAN and a Wired WAN port. The mini has two SIM slots allowing you to load this router with multiple sim cards from multiple carriers allowing you to select which SIM/carrier is in use by the modem. The signal from your cellular connection is then re-broadcasted wirelessly inside your coach or travel trailer using the unit's high-powered 802.11AC wireless functionality.

You can also utilize the mini's WiFi-as-WAN functionality to connect to external WiFi sources, enable the WAN port, enable hot failover and more with an active Primecare license. Primecare licenses are non-refundable.

The unit's highly customizable web interface supports a variety of advanced routing features and will satisfy the needs of advanced users while being extremely easy to use for non-tech users as well. The unit accepts 12v inputs via the optional DC direct wire power cable or you can use the included AC adapter for 110v installation.

One Embedded Cellular Modem

This mobile router is equipped with a single cellular modem. This device may have multiple SIM card slots but can connect to one cellular provider at a time. Single modem devices may include a USB port or expansion slot to add additional modems. Switching between SIM card slots can be done via the management console, typically in 30-60 seconds allowing time for the modem to reboot utilizing the auxiliary SIM slot(s). Higher-end single modem devices often have faster maximum download/upload speeds then other devices but lack the redundancy found in a multi-modem device. Our multi-modem collection of devices can be found here

Internet traffic can be routed in a variety of ways using Peplink's proprietary Outbound Policy Management Algorithms.  Single modem devices may be capable of utilizing SpeedFusion technology, also known as "WAN bonding", which may require separate licensing. Single modem devices can bond the single cellular connection with the devices WAN port or WIFI-as-WAN sources if the device supports these functions.  See SpeedFusion section on this page for additional information.

Category 7 Modem

This mobile router is equipped with one or more category 7 LTE Advanced cellular modems with a maximum download speed of 300Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 150Mbps (typical speeds range from 10-75mbps depending on cellular network conditions and coverage). The category of the modem impacts the maximum upload and download speed of the device and what cellular bands or "channels" the device can connect to. Cellular bands act similarly to "channels" on television, each cellular provider broadcasts on specific bands. Category 7 modems support connecting to the primary bands of all major carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T and include additional LTE secondary bands for increased speed and coverage in many areas. This includes access to Band 14, AT&T's FirstNET band and Band 71 for TMobile's rural band. For a complete list of bands supported, click the documentation tab for detailed specifications.

Category 7 modems are extremely popular as they blend strong performance and maximum data plan compatibility and value. Category 7 modems are very popular for mobile workers and for those who consider the internet "mission-critical" as they come in many dual modem mobile routers capable of bonding. Category 7 modems are capable of video calling, VOIP, streaming,  general internet use, and, when paired with a dual modem capable device, support bonding of multiple cellular connections. See SpeedFusion section for more information.

Licensed for SpeedFusion

This device is licensed for SpeedFusion access. SpeedFusion is Peplink's proprietary WAN bonding solution that can bond multiple internet connections together into a single, more resilient connection for added connection reliability. SpeedFusion-capable devices create a VPN tunnel that allows multiple internet connections to act as a single connection. SpeedFusion supports WAN-Smoothing, a technology that helps to prevent packet loss which is typically the cause for unstable internet connections. In order to utilize SpeedFusion you must either host your own SpeedFusion instance at a secondary location/datacenter or use Peplink's SpeedFusion Cloud service which is available for an additional monthly subscription fee. This device includes data allotment for SpeedFusion cloud transfer at up to 100Mbps per second (amount of data will change based on the hardware). For more information on SpeedFusion and SpeedFusion Cloud, please reach out to us below.

Roof Antenna Recommended

This mobile router comes with indoor antennas that provide 3db of cellular gain. Upgrading to an optional roof antenna can provide significant signal improvement by moving the cellular antenna outside, at higher elevation and provide you the benefit of an antenna with higher gain specifications. Roof antennas can be added now with a bundle discount by checking out our Internet Bundle Section, or at a later date based on your needs.

Supports WiFi-as-WAN

This device supports WiFi-As-WAN, meaning you can pick up public WiFi signals from hotspots, campgrounds, and other sources to rebroadcast them into your coach and use them as your local internet. The wireless antennas included with this modem will pick up these signals and rebroadcast them locally within your own WiFi network.

*Using public WiFi may be unreliable due to external environmental forces typically outside of customer's control and as such public WiFi is recommended to be used as a secondary backup connection.

FirstNet Ready

This device is FirstNet Ready! FirstNet is the nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to America's first responders. Being built with AT&T, in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet utilizes Band-14, which is reserved for public safety but is also being marketed as available to the public for additional bandwidth capacity. In testing Band-14 has been made available during non-emergency situations to the public to provide additional bandwidth and coverages to customers who have a modem that supports FirstNet's Band-14. Not all modems that support Band-14 are "FirstNet Certified" however they typically can connect to Band-14 in most areas. Information on FirstNet certifications can be found on Specification sheets located on the Documentation Tab. Additional information about FirstNet's use and technology can be found in this article from our friends at the RV Mobile Internet Resource Center.

Band 71 Ready

This device supports Band 71. Band 71 is T-Mobile's rural cellular band that operates on 600mhz which provides significant increases in coverage on the T-Mobile network for customers traveling outside of urban areas. 5G ready devices that support Band 71 typically also support Band 71n which is the 5G band for T-Mobile. Note that not all devices are 5G devices so check the listing above but with or without 5G you will still achieve increased coverage on the T-Mobile network with any device that supports Band 71. For more information about Band 71, check out the Band 71 Guide from our friends at the Mobile Internet Resource Center

    Works well.

This is our first time using a cellular router. It has worked well for emails, internet & streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu & Pluto.

    Peplink Max BR1 mini

Great device. 4 stars only because it was sent with an older version of software. I had some issues downloading the newest version but the tech support I received was 5 stars. All US based!

Thanks for the feedback! This happens sometimes because Peplink sends us devices with their current firmware at that point in time. Peplink generally releases several updates a year, as they are always innovating and improving their products. If the device sits in our warehouse for a little while, the software might be a bit outdated when a customer receives it. We don't open the box and update it before we ship.

That said, the firmware update process is relatively straightforward, and our Support Team is always here to help with that process if needed. Don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need help with something like this. We want setup and device management to be as smooth and simple as possible for our customers.

    Works great

Easy set-up. Had trouble getting Verizon to accept the device, but no problem with T-Mobile. Works as intended. Haven't had the opportunity to try in remote areas
