The Blu Technology SMART CAP™ Universal Kit is an RV water softener retrofit kit designed to bring Blu Technology’s simplified softening, regeneration, and backflushing workflow to most standard single-tank, resin-based RV water softeners, regardless of brand.

Traditional RV water softener maintenance can require shutting down the water supply, disconnecting hoses, opening the softener, repositioning equipment, regenerating the resin, backflushing the system, and then reconnecting everything. SMART CAP™ is engineered to simplify that process. Its integrated dial lets users switch between water softening, regeneration with standard table salt, and backflushing without removing the cap or disconnecting connected hoses.

That makes the SMART CAP™ Universal Kit an ideal upgrade for installations where faster servicing, cleaner maintenance, and reduced connection handling matter. An external drain pathway supports regeneration and backflush operations while the water softener remains connected, helping eliminate much of the mess and repetitive teardown associated with conventional portable RV water softener maintenance.

Unlike the SMART CAP™ designed specifically as an upgrade for Blu Technology softeners, the SMART CAP™ Universal Kit is the retrofit option for other standard tank-style systems. It is intended for most conventional single-tank, resin-based RV water softeners, making it a practical option for customers who already own a functioning softener but want a more efficient regeneration and maintenance process.

Faster, Cleaner Water Softener Regeneration

The SMART CAP™ system is designed around a simple operating dial. Instead of repeatedly removing the softener cap and disconnecting plumbing connections, users select the appropriate operating mode and perform routine softening, regeneration, or backflushing with the system still connected. Regeneration uses standard table salt, simplifying consumable sourcing and ongoing maintenance.

The Universal Kit is also offered for use with a 5-inch or 10-inch SaltFlow™ Cartridge, providing an easier method of introducing salt during the regeneration process. Blu Technology notes that cartridge selection depends on the filtration-system canister size being used.
