Pepwave new MAX BR1 Pro now has an upgraded CAT-20 modem with 2GB max download throughput and an upgraded processor from the Transit and BR1 predecessors. This unit comes in Pepwave's new chassis, latest Cat 20 ready modem, dual-band wifi 6, WiFi as Wan, and more.
The MAX BR1 Pro CAT-20 is a complete mobile internet solution for travelers who are looking to use Cellular data as their primary mode of staying connected. The MAX BR1 Pro CAT-20 has two sim slots (nano) allowing you to load this router with multiple sim cards from multiple carriers allowing you to select which sim/carrier is in use by the modem. The signal from your cellular connection is then re-broadcasted wirelessly inside your coach or travel trailer using the unit's high-powered WIFI 6, 2x2 MIMO WiFi antennas. You get powerful 2ghz (long-range) and 5ghz (high speed) wireless connectivity that now takes advantage of the latest WIFI 6 technology with much faster throughput than its predecessor while also getting wired ethernet ports for your most demanding devices like VOIP phones or desktop computer/workstations.
You can also utilize the MAX BR1 Pro CAT-20 Wifi-As-Wan functionality to connect to campground wifi in addition to utilizing the cellular modem. For the advanced user, you can load-balance multiple connections (advanced feature) allowing you to utilize wireless/wired and cellular connections simultaneously. Truly an industrial-grade, mobile workhorse for the serious travel enthusiast.
The unit's highly customizable web interface supports a variety of advanced routing features and will satisfy the needs of power users while being extremely easy to use for the non-technical as well. The unit accepts 12v inputs (optional fused molex direct wire cable exclusively from MobileMustHave.com) or you can use the included AC adapter for 110v installation.
Single Modem Device
The mobile router listed on this page is equipped with a single cellular modem. This device may have multiple sim card slots but can connect to one cellular provider at a time. Single modem devices may include a USB port or expansion slot to add additional modems. Switching between sim card slots can be done via the management console, typically in 30-60 seconds allowing time for the modem to reboot utilizing the auxiliary sim slot(s). Higher-end single modem devices often have faster maximum download/upload speeds then other devices however they lack the redundancy found in a multi-modem device. Our multi-modem collection of devices can be found here.
Internet traffic can be routed in a variety of ways using Peplink's proprietary Outbound Policy Management Algorithms. Single modem devices may be capable of utilizing SpeedFusion technology also known as "WAN bonding" which may require separate licensing. Single modem devices can bond the single cellular connection with the devices WAN port or WIFI-as-WAN sources if the device supports these functions. See SpeedFusion section on this page for additional information.
Category 20 Modem
The mobile router is equipped with one or more category 20 LTE Advanced Pro cellular modems with a maximum download speed of 2Gbps and a maximum upload speed of 211Mbps (typical speeds range from 10-175mbps depending on cellular network conditions and coverage). The category of the modem impacts the maximum upload and download speed of the device and what cellular bands or "channels" the device can connect to. Cellular bands act similarly to "channels" on television, each cellular provider broadcasts on specific bands. Category 20 modems support connecting to the primary bands of all major carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint & AT&T and step up lower category modems to include additional LTE secondary bands for increased speed and coverage in many areas. This typically access to Band 14, and TMobile's Band 71. Category 20 modems also offer faster upload speeds and support the latest LTE-A technology. For a complete list of bands supported, click the documentation tab for detailed specifications.
Category 20 modems are popular as they blend exceptional performance and value over more expensive 5G modems that may not yet perform signigantly faster as 5G is very new. Category 20 modems are very popular with customers that need the fastest possible speeds for large file downloads or uploads or who require access to secondary Bands to improve performance on a particlular cellular carrier. Category 20 modems can bring faster speeds but can come with trade offs. Category 20 routers typically are single modem devices as a dual modem version would require 8 cellular antennas and be costly.
The device listed on this page is licensed for SpeedFusion access. SpeedFusion is Peplink's proprietary WAN bonding solution that can bond multiple internet connections together into a single, more resilient connection for added connection reliability. SpeedFusion capable devices create a VPN tunnel which allows multiple internet connections to act as a single connection. SpeedFusion supports WAN-Smoothing, a technology which helps to prevent packet-loss which is typically the cause for unstable internet connections. In order to utilize SpeedFusion you must either host your own SpeedFusion instance at a secondary location/datacenter, or utilize Peplink's SpeedFusion Cloud service which is available for an additional monthly subscription fee. This device includes 1TB of SpeedFusion cloud transfer at up to 100Mbps per second. For more information on SpeedFusion and SpeedFusion cloud please contact us below.
Roof Antenna Support
This mobile router comes with indoor antennas that provide 3db of cellular gain. Upgrading to an optional roof antenna can provide significant signal improvement by moving the cellular antenna outside, at higher elevation and provide you the benefit of an antenna with higher gain specifications. Roof antennas can be added now with a bundle discount by checking out our Internet Bundle Section, or at a later date based on your needs.
WiFi as WAN
This device supports Wifi-As-Wan meaning you can pick up public WiFi signals from hotspots, campgrounds, and other sources to rebroadcast them into your coach and use them as your local internet. The wireless antennas included with this modem will pick up these signals and rebroadcast them locally within your own WiFi network.
*Using public WiFi may be unreliable due to external environmental forces typically outside of customer's control and as such public WiFi is recommended to be used as a secondary backup connection.
Wi-Fi 6 expands the WiFi band from 80 MHz to 160 MHz, doubling the channel width and creating a faster connection from your router to the device. With Wi-Fi 6, you can enjoy 8K movies, large file downloads and uploads, and responsive smart home devices – all without buffering. WiFi 6 allows for speeds of up to 9.6 gigabits per second (Gbps), up from WiFi 5's 3.5 Gbps.
This means faster internal file transfers and less speed loss between the modem to your device.

Quick shipping with the MMH membership. Great upgrade to my old router. Installation instructions were very helpful.
We FINALLY have real internet!! My husband and I love the Pepwave MAX BR1 CAT-20 Modem. Everything was very easy to get set up. However we did pay for support to get us up and running. Everything was done through e-mail but it was clear instructions my husband and I could understand. We have been very impressed with Mobile Must Have and we tell all our friends about them. Thank you Mobile Must Have for giving us internet connection out on the road.
Pepwave Max BR1 Pro
I recently purchased this router. Set up was easier than I expected. I inserted my Verizon sim card, followed the set up video's on the MobileMustHave site and was up in running in a short time. Have only used the router for a few days but so far so good.
Easy Setup and Great Customer Service
I ordered the Speed Demon VR2 bundle to install in our Travel Trailer for an extended road trip this summer. The setup was a breeze thanks to the installation guide and YouTube videos. I did have an issue with changing SIM carriers but with a few emails back and forth with Customer Service, it was up and running within a couple hours. Great product so far and even better customer service. The big test will happen this summer when we head out west on a 4 month trip!
Very happy with it
The router has worked very well with just the antennas that come with it so far for us. We got excellent signal strength most places with Verizon, though we haven't been anywhere super remote yet. While we were away from home, I was able to stream the NCAA Final Four games while my son was streaming WrestleMania in another room, and it never missed a beat. This past weekend I finally got around to installing the Parsec Husky antenna on the roof that I purchase with the bundle and the signal strength is even better.
