Poynting introduces their all-new XPOL-24 directional 4x4 MIMO antenna and forms part of the new Lion Series. The XPOL-24 is an expansion of Poyntings very popular XPOL-2-5G antenna range. The antenna features 4x4 MIMO for 5G routers and future-proof implementation. The antenna applies our advanced metamaterial technology, making use of Artificial Magnetic Conductors (AMC) to achieve exceptional bandwidth and gain.

The XPOL-24 antenna covers the up-and-coming 5G bands, including the lower 617 to 960 MHz and the upper 3400 to 4200 MHz bands. The antenna performs exceptionally well in the following frequency bands: 617 to 960 MHz, 1710 to 2700 MHz & 3400 to 4200 MHz. The antenna can achieve a peak gain of 11dBi across the wide band of operation due to the implementation of advanced metamaterial technology.

The XPOL-24 antenna also features 4x4 MIMO capability, adding to the exceptional performance of the antenna. The antenna elements are cross polarised with vertical, horizontal, and ±45° polarisations with spatial diversity for improved diversity and decorrelation. The frequency bands supported by the antenna are illustrated in the following graph.

Directional Antenna

This product includes a directional antenna. Directional antennas must be pointed towards a cellular tower to perform optimally. Directional antennas typically have a field of vision of approximately 10-25 degrees and, when pointed properly, achieve exceptional performance for long range applications. Directional antennas are often best suited for fixed installation applications, such as rural home or office use, but can also be used in mobile applications where customers are comfortable aiming the antenna at the correct cell tower.

*For customers with dual modem applications note that if you are using multiple cellular providers, cellular towers may be located in different directions from one another making a single directional antenna difficult to use on more than one provider. Consider an omni directional antenna for this application or multiple directional antennas based on your use case.

FirstNet Ready

This device is FirstNet Ready! FirstNet is the nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to America's first responders. Being built with AT&T, in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet utilizes Band-14, which is reserved for public safety but is also being marketed as available to the public for additional bandwidth capacity. In testing Band-14 has been made available during non-emergency situations to the public to provide additional bandwidth and coverages to customers who have a modem that supports FirstNet's Band-14. Not all modems that support Band-14 are "FirstNet Certified" however they typically can connect to Band-14 in most areas. Information on FirstNet certifications can be found on Specification sheets located on the Documentation Tab. Additional information about FirstNet's use and technology can be found in this article from our friends at the RV Mobile Internet Resource Center.

Band 71 Ready

This device supports Band 71. Band 71 is T-Mobile's rural cellular band that operates on 600mhz which provides significant increases in coverage on the T-Mobile network for customers traveling outside of urban areas. 5G ready devices that support Band 71 typically also support Band 71n which is the 5G band for T-Mobile. Note that not all devices are 5G devices so check the listing above but with or without 5G you will still achieve increased coverage on the T-Mobile network with any device that supports Band 71. For more information about Band 71, check out the Band 71 Guide from our friends at the Mobile Internet Resource Center

Worked great Turned 1 bar into 3 at 3.5 miles

Worked great I was in a situation with 1 bar of service. Area has lots of pine trees.

Put this on a mast about 20 feet in the air, pointed it at an ATT cell tower 3.5 miles away and got 3 bars of service on my Nighthawk M1 Router. Only using 2x2 at the moment, but will use 4x4 when I upgrade routers.

Rural line of sight to tower, 3 miles, no obstructions

This antenna performed similarly to 2 x XPOL-0002-V3-01 XPOL-2-5G. The only advantage that I see is that 4x4 MIMO is delivered in one antenna - it is large but light. The mount is terrific. I move the antenna between home and RV so wish that there were connectors at the unit rather than fixed cables - it is a burden to move the cabling between the two. I expected better signal metrics and better aggregation options but it was identical to my previous setup. I will likely leave my two-antenna setup permanently on the home setup and use this antenna in the RV only.

    Great product

Just got the item mounted on my RV a few days ago and it’s drastically improved my cell reception. It’s improved upload speeds most by increased by 7 fold. Also the packaging was first class. I’ve ordered extension cables which will allow for a bit more height. Looking forward to receiving those. I would certainly purchase again

    Poynting XPOL 24 4x4 MIMO

Where we were, we were barely receiving any cell signal. With this antenna, we're now able to stream with no more interuptions to service

    Great antenna

I use this antenna at my home base which is very rural with no access to cable and there are too many trees for reliable satellite (tried it). I also have a Parsec Husky Pro 7 in 1 omnidirectional antenna and have compared them. The difference is small but the Poynting XPOL 24 does have a slight advantage which in my case is just enough to get me connected. Plan on spending a few days to make sure of the optimal direction to point the antenna. Try peak times, middle of the night, weekdays, weekends etc. There is a difference and if you only set it up once it's possible to point it in a direction or pick a location that is not the best overall. This is a disadvantage of a directional antenna. I also discovered that if the antenna is pointing up or down more than about 5-10 deg. the performance drops so use a level when setting it up. Not sure if that is a common finding or unique to my situation. Be creative in finding the best location. At my home base the best antenna location is about 600 ft behind my house. The difference is staggering (10 Mbps to 150+ Mbps). I will be burying fiber optic cable with media converters to span the distance but the performance difference is so great that it will be worth the effort and expense. The attached photo is where the antenna will eventually be permanently mounted. Note that there is almost no view of the sky or clear line of sight through the trees and this antenna still works great.
