ToughSignal Portable Internet Command Centers | Dual 5G + Starlink

Most portable connectivity projects quietly turn into integration projects. A router here, antennas there, a battery pack, a power supply, SIM cards from three carriers, and someone on your team learning cellular bands and WAN policies on a deadline. We built the first prototype for ourselves, a dual Cat 6 LTE trade show unit that still works, and customers in aviation, event production, and television kept asking for one.

So we built them properly with Parsec. Their engineering team in Plano designs and installs the antenna arrays, individually testing every antenna that ships. Our team then retrofits the Peplink router, provisions the SIMs, applies the customer's configuration and labeling, and tests the unit. That is roughly five to six hours of hands-on engineering time per case before it goes in a box.

All three share the same engineering approach, the same ToughCare support program, and 12 months of included RoamLink data. They differ in how many internet connections they carry, how much battery they hold, and how far they travel.

• ToughSignal Basecamp, from $7,499. The grab-and-go case. One Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G X65 with a 7-in-1 Parsec array, a 94Wh / 25,600mAh Omnicharge battery, USB-C charging, and two external Ethernet ports in a 13 inch Parsec Boxer enclosure. Small enough to move between sites daily.
• ToughSignal Ascent, from $11,999. Two independent 5G modems on a Peplink MAX BR2 Pro 5G X65, an 11-in-1 antenna system, a roughly 50,000mAh-class Omnicharge Ultimate+ battery, three configurable RJ45 ports, and active dual-fan cooling in an 18 inch Bloodhound case. This is the one for deployments where cellular is the primary link and clear sky is not guaranteed.
• ToughSignal Summit, from $13,999. Dual 5G on a Peplink MAX BR2 X65 plus an integrated Starlink Mini, up to three connections live at once, in a carry-on-size Pitbull Pro case with wheels and a telescoping handle. IP54 when properly closed, lockable, and designed to run with the lid shut.

Eleven antennas sit in the lid: eight cellular elements, four for each 5G modem, two Wi-Fi, and GPS, with the Starlink Mini packed in alongside them. Getting that much antenna into a carry-on footprint without giving up the Starlink is the part of this build that still impresses me.

Eight cooling fans move air across the Starlink and the router. That matters more than it sounds. A Starlink Mini drops into low power mode when it overheats, which shows up as a performance problem rather than an error, so Parsec spent real testing time on the thermal design instead of bolting a dish to a lid.

The Starlink has its own power button. Indoors, under trees, or in a dense downtown, the dish does very little and costs you battery, so you switch it off and keep running on 5G. With Starlink on, expect roughly 3 to 4 hours on battery. With it off, north of 10. Turning the dish back on does not require rebooting anything. The Peplink detects it and folds it back into the bonded connection.

On the back panel: one WAN port, three LAN ports, and a standard AC power inlet. No external power brick. A 6 foot cord ships in the box, and if it gets left behind, any extension cord works. That decision came from Erik forgetting a proprietary adapter one too many times.

The WAN port is also how you scale. Configure a second case in Peplink Synergy mode, plug it in, and two Summits give you four 5G connections and two Starlinks managed as one system. Still on battery.

Every case arrives provisioned with RoamLink multi-carrier eSIMs and 12 months of data on both modems, and it is priority data rather than network-managed unlimited. RoamLink is our own carrier platform covering AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular on one plan and one bill. Check the product page for the allowance that comes with your configuration.

Four physical SIM slots stay open inside the case for corporate carrier-direct accounts or FirstNet. Send us your SIMs and we will install and configure them during the build. We are also a Starlink authorized provider, so Starlink service and priority plans can be quoted alongside the case, including pooled options for larger fleets.

RoamLink Enterprise customers get a portal that manages eSIMs, data pools, subscriptions, and Starlink plans in one place. For a fleet of cases spread across regions, that replaces a pile of separate carrier bills with one dashboard.

Support is the reason ToughSignal exists as a program rather than a product. Event and project teams told us the same thing repeatedly: nobody on staff wants to learn band locking, signal scanning, and SpeedFusion bonding the week of a live show.

So every case includes ToughCare: preconfiguration, component warranty support, setup documentation, same-business-day technical support with a 4 hour response SLA, and remote site tuning. Before an event, our team remotes into the case with yours and optimizes each 5G modem and the Starlink for that location, then shows your people how to do it next time. ToughCare+ adds 24/7 coverage and a 2 hour SLA, with multi-year extensions available.

Emergency response and EOC backup. Broadcast, media, and live events. Construction trailers and survey crews waiting on a utility connection. Pop-up offices and clinics running on temporary circuits. Branch failover, where one staged case ships to whichever site lost its primary link. Aviation, utilities, and field fleets that need GPS-aware connectivity riding along with the crew.

What these are not is an RV product. You could put one in an RV, but the design target is commercial and enterprise use, and the price reflects the engineering, the support program, and the included data.

Build time runs about two weeks. We try to hold stock, and our enterprise team keeps selling it before it lands on a shelf. The upside of building to order is customization: preinstalled customer SIMs, configured WAN policies and SSIDs, custom labeling, and QR code sticker sets for standard and bonded Wi-Fi. Fleet pricing, formal quotes, purchase orders, and net terms on approval are all available, and standardized configurations mean units two through twenty match unit one. Battery runtime, cellular throughput, and carrier availability vary with signal conditions, network congestion, connected equipment, environment, and system configuration. None of the cases should be treated as waterproof while operating with cooling vents or external connections in use. Starlink service requires an active Starlink subscription unless stated otherwise with your configuration.
