The mobile router is equipped with one or more category 12 LTE Advanced cellular modems with a maximum download speed of 600Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 150Mbps (typical speeds range from 10-75mbps depending on cellular network conditions and coverage). The category of the modem impacts the maximum upload and download speed of the device and what cellular bands or "channels" the device can connect to. Cellular bands act similarly to "channels" on television, each cellular provider broadcasts on specific bands. Category 12 modems support connecting to the primary bands of all major carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T and include additional LTE secondary bands for increased speed and coverage in many areas. This includes access to Band 14, AT&T's FirstNET band. For a complete list of bands supported, click the documentation tab for detailed specifications.
Category 12 modems are extremely popular as they blend strong performance and maximum data plan compatibility. Category 12 modems are very popular for mobile workers and for those who consider the internet "mission-critical" (dual modem device recommended). Category 12 modems are capable of video calling, VOIP, streaming, general internet use, and, when paired with a dual modem capable device, support bonding of multiple cellular connections. See SpeedFusion section for more information.

- Greg H.Verified BuyerReviewingPeplink CAT-12 FlexModule Mini For Balance Series Routers (Certified Pre-Owned)I recommend this productRated 5 out of 5 stars7 months agocat-12 flex minim module -- great performance for me
The cat-12 flex module arrived, was installed in my Balance 20X , and works great. I am getting download speeds from 90 - 112 mbps and upload speeds of 40-50 mbps with latency from 39-48 ms. The previous B20x's internal cat-4 modem gave me around 25-35 mbps both download and upload.
I used the Panoram DMM-7-27-2SP 2X2 MIMO external antenna for both tests.
The bands used by the cat-12 flexmodule are
Band 66 - (AWS 1700/2100 MHz)
RSSI: -56dBm SINR: 23.6dB RSRP: -83dBm RSRQ: -10.0dB
Band 13 - (700 MHz)
RSSI: -53dBm SINR: 21.0dB RSRP: -73dBm RSRQ: -9.0dB
I am very happy with the upgrade. This is my backup WAN connection on my Balance 20X. My primary WAN is T-Mobile 5G home internet, which gets 200-300 mbps download and about 150 mbps upload with latency around 20.
