The ToughSignal Ascent is a portable enterprise connectivity system built for organizations that need powerful cellular connectivity without the size, power consumption, or sky-view requirements of an integrated satellite system. Built on Parsec's rugged Bloodhound platform, Ascent combines a Peplink MAX BR2 Pro 5G X65 dual-5G router, an integrated 11-in-1 antenna system, onboard battery power, RoamLink multi-carrier connectivity, external network ports, and active cooling into one field-ready enclosure.
Ascent sits between the ultra-portable ToughSignal Basecamp and the cellular-plus-satellite Summit. Its focus is simple: two independent high-performance 5G connections, substantial onboard battery capacity, and professional networking capabilities in a smaller portable package.
It's designed for live events, broadcast and media production, emergency response, temporary offices, remote worksites, aviation operations, network failover, field teams, mobile command applications, and enterprise deployments where cellular connectivity is the primary internet source.
At the center of Ascent is the Peplink MAX BR2 Pro 5G X65, an enterprise-grade router with two independent 5G cellular modems.
Instead of relying on a single cellular connection, Ascent gives your network two independent cellular paths. Those connections can be configured across different networks and managed through Peplink's advanced WAN controls to provide greater flexibility when signal quality, congestion, or network availability changes from location to location.
For supported deployments, Peplink SpeedFusion can also use both cellular connections together for features such as connection bonding, WAN smoothing, and Hot Failover, helping organizations build a more resilient connection for important applications.
The case itself is part of the connectivity system. Ascent uses an 11-in-1 antenna configuration with eight cellular elements, two Wi-Fi elements, and GPS.
Eight cellular elements provide each of the BR2 Pro's two 5G modems with its own complete 4x4 MIMO cellular antenna array. This gives both modems the antenna resources needed to make full use of modern 5G and LTE networks without deploying separate external antenna systems.
The antennas are integrated into the rugged enclosure, creating a self-contained portable network that can be deployed quickly without setting up antenna stands, routing external coax cables, or assembling multiple pieces of equipment at every location.
Unlike the ToughSignal Summit, Ascent does not include an integrated Starlink Mini. That is intentional.
Ascent is designed for deployments where high-performance cellular connectivity is the primary requirement and where smaller size, lower power consumption, and longer battery operation are more important than having satellite connectivity built directly into the case.
Cellular also gives Ascent the ability to operate indoors, beneath tree cover, around buildings, in vehicles, and in other environments where a satellite terminal may not have the clear view of the sky it needs.
If a deployment requires cellular plus integrated satellite connectivity, the ToughSignal Summit is the better fit.
Ascent is designed around substantial onboard battery capacity and includes an integrated Omnicharge Ultimate+ based lithium battery system.
The battery powers the Peplink router and supporting electronics without requiring a permanent external power source, making Ascent well suited for temporary deployments, field operations, mobile teams, and locations where AC power may not immediately be available.
The current Ascent configuration is built around an approximately 50,000mAh-class battery system. Actual operating time varies based on cellular activity, network conditions, connected equipment, environmental conditions, system configuration, and battery configuration.
When AC power is available, Ascent can be connected to standard power while the onboard battery is recharged. USB-C charging access is also integrated into the battery-equipped Bloodhound configuration.
Every ToughSignal Ascent is configured with RoamLink eSIM connectivity, giving the dual-modem BR2 Pro access to RoamLink's multi-carrier network platform without requiring your team to build its cellular connectivity strategy from scratch.
The system includes 12 months of RoamLink data with the included allowance determined by the configuration selected on this product page.
The Peplink BR2 Pro also provides physical SIM capability for organizations that maintain their own carrier-direct services. Supported customer SIMs can be incorporated into the system configuration for deployments requiring a combination of RoamLink, existing corporate carrier accounts, FirstNet, or other supported connectivity services.
Ascent provides external connections for integrating the system with the rest of your network while keeping the primary networking hardware protected inside the enclosure.
The Ethernet connections can be mapped to WAN and LAN functions during system configuration, allowing Ascent to support downstream computers, switches, cameras, production equipment, access points, temporary networks, or an additional wired internet source depending on the deployment.
The Bloodhound platform measures approximately 18 inches x 14 inches x 7 inches, making Ascent substantially more compact than the ToughSignal Summit while still accommodating a dual-5G BR2 Pro, eight cellular antenna elements, Wi-Fi, GPS, battery power, network connections, cooling, and supporting electronics.
Parsec designed the Bloodhound enclosure for demanding mobile and portable communications applications. The underlying enclosure platform is IP67-rated, while the configured Ascent incorporates cooling fans, vents, power connections, and external ports required for operation.
Ascent should not be treated as waterproof while operating. Fan and vent caps must be opened as required for cooling, and power and network connections should be appropriately protected from liquids and environmental exposure.
Enterprise networking equipment generates heat, particularly when two 5G modems are operating simultaneously. Ascent incorporates an active dual-fan cooling system to move air through the enclosure and help manage operating temperatures.
This is an engineered connectivity system rather than simply a router placed inside a protective box. Power distribution, antenna routing, cooling, cable management, network connections, and component mounting are integrated as part of the complete ToughSignal build.
