24V to 12V Converter Wiring Kit
The Off-Grid Power 24V-to-12V DC Wiring Kit provides the DC cable, copper lugs, and adhesive-lined heat shrink needed to connect the equipment used to interface a 24V Off-Grid Power System with an existing 12V electrical system.
This wiring kit is designed for systems using a 24V battery bank to supply 12V DC loads such as lighting, controls, fans, pumps, and other existing 12V accessories. It is typically used with an Orion 24V-to-12V 80A DC-DC converter, along with the associated DC disconnects and protection components, to provide regulated 12V power from the 24V battery system.
The included cable lengths and termination hardware are selected to match the detailed MMH wiring diagrams for this 24V-to-12V conversion module, helping simplify sourcing and providing the materials needed to connect the converter, disconnects, and related DC components into the larger Off-Grid Power System.
Wire quantities are measured in linear feet. The material list specifies two 10-foot quantities of 8 AWG wire, for 20 feet total. Heat-shrink quantities are supplied as 12-inch sections.
The cable included in this kit is full-AWG, pure OFC copper cable made in the USA and selected for demanding mobile, marine, RV, automotive, and off-grid power applications. Its flexible stranded construction makes routing easier in tight mobile installations while providing the copper content needed for reliable DC power connections.
The cable carries multiple ratings and approvals, including UL MTW, UL1426 BC5-W2 marine cable, UL THW building wire, UL AWM, and SAE automotive battery cable ratings. It features a durable PVC jacket resistant to oil, water, chemicals, abrasion, and sunlight and carries a UL VW-1 flame-resistance rating. Depending on the applicable rating, the cable is rated for applications up to 600V or 1000V.
The included heavy-duty lugs are manufactured from pure copper and tin plated for corrosion resistance. Their seamless construction, flared barrel, and chamfered opening are well suited for the flexible stranded cable used throughout mobile DC power systems.
The lugs are UL Listed/CSA Certified and can be crimped or soldered. Multiple stud-hole sizes are included so the wiring can be terminated at the appropriate converter, disconnect, fuse, and distribution connection points shown in the MMH wiring diagrams.
The included red and black heat shrink uses a 3:1 shrink ratio dual-wall construction with a flame-retardant cross-linked polyolefin exterior and hot-melt adhesive interior. When properly heated, the tubing shrinks tightly around the connection while the adhesive flows around the underlying surface. Once cooled, it forms a durable, flexible, and water-resistant seal around the termination.
This wiring kit is designed to support the optional 24V-to-12V DC conversion module used with MobileMustHave Off-Grid Power Bundles. It provides the wiring and termination materials needed to connect the DC-DC converter and related protection components so an existing 12V electrical system can be powered from the bundle's 24V battery bank.
While this wiring kit can be purchased separately, it is intended primarily to be selected as part of a complete system through the MobileMustHave Off-Grid Power Configurator, which automatically matches compatible power modules, wiring kits, and supporting components to your selected system.
