Dual 5G capability is finally here with the new MAX BR2 Pro Mobile Router. The BR2 is the result of over a year of conversations between Peplink, MobileMustHave and other Peplink Partners. As mobile power users ourselves, we provided Peplink with specifications on what mobile internet enthusiasts need to stay connected on the road and Peplink delivered with the BR2 Pro. The BR2 is a mobile communication powerhouse with 7 built in WAN interfaces including:

  • 2x 5G Embedded Cellular Modems with 4Gbps Max Download/700Mbps Upload
  • 2x 2.5Ge Wired WAN (compatible with StarLink, secondary Peplink Routers or other wired WAN connection)
  • 2Ghz/5Ghz Simultanious WIFI-as-WAN to connect to 2x public WiFi simultaniously
  • USB WAN Port supports external tethered WAN devices including Peplink Max Adapter for a 3rd 5G Modem

The BR2 Pro chassis has been fully redesigned from the ground up with improved processors, memory and up to 1GB of max wan throughput making it an exceptional hub for multiple highspeed internet sources such as 5G cellular or StarLink low orbit satellite integration. The BR1 Pro supports the latest cellular bands for all of the major cellular carriers including 5G bands. This means you can access additional spectrums of the cellular networks providing additional speeds and/or access to cellular bands that are less congested. 5G cellular modules provide the most speed and flexibility possible.

The BR2 Pro 5G is recommended for power users who want expandability and exceptional performance at good value. The BR2 Pro has four sim slots (nano) allowing you to load this router with multiple sim cards from multiple carriers allowing you to select which sim/carrier is in use by each of the two 5G cellular routers. The signal from your cellular connection is then re-broadcasted wirelessly inside your coach or travel trailer using the unit's high-powered WIFI 6, 2x2 MIMO WIFI antennas. You get powerful 2ghz (long-range) and 5ghz (high speed) wireless connectivity that now takes advantage of the latest WIFI 6 technology with much faster throughput than its predecessor while also getting 4x wired gigabit ethernet ports for your most demanding devices like VOIP phones or desktop computer/workstations.

You can also utilize the BR2 Pros LTE-A's WIFI-As-Wan functionality to connect to campground WIFI in addition to utilizing the cellular modems. For the advanced user, you can load-balance multiple connections (advanced feature) allowing you to utilize wireless/wired and cellular connections simultaneously. Truly an industrial-grade, mobile workhorse for the serious travel enthusiast.

The unit's highly customizable web interface supports a variety of advanced routing features and will satisfy the needs of power users while being extremely easy to use for the non-technical as well. The unit accepts 12v inputs (optional fused Molex direct wire cable exclusively from MobileMustHave.com) or you can use the included AC adapter for 110v installation. The BR2 Pro can also be powered via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) via the WAN port.

The BR2 Pro supports Peplink's optional SIM injector providing up to 8 additional sim cards and has built in eSIM support for flexible remote sim management. See the documentation tab for the sim injector configuration manual which includes wiring examples.

Additional features and information below.

Dual Modem Device

The mobile router listed on this page is equipped with two embedded cellular modems. This will allow you to utilize two cellular connections at the same time, providing advanced traffic routing and load balancing capabilities as well as near-instant failover from one provider to another.  Internet traffic can be routed in a variety of ways using Peplink's proprietary Outbound Policy Management Algorithms.  Dual modem devices may be capable of utilizing SpeedFusion technology also known as "WAN bonding" which may require separate licensing. See SpeedFusion section below.

5G Modem

The mobile router is equipped with one or more 5G / Category 20 cellular modems with a maximum download speed of 4Gbps and a maximum upload speed of 700Mbps (typical speeds range from 10-350mbps depending on cellular network conditions and coverage). The category of the modem impacts the maximum upload and download speed of the device and what cellular bands or "channels" the device can connect to. Cellular bands act similarly to "channels" on television, each cellular provider broadcasts on specific bands. 5G modems include Bands specific to 5G service and also work on 4G Bands as well. 5G modems have the broadest Band support available today. This includes access to Band 14, and TMobile's Band 71 as well as 5G bands like n71 and n41 and more.  For a complete list of bands supported, click the documentation tab for detailed specifications.

5G modems are cutting edge but that performance comes at a price as upgraded processors are needed and the technology is very new. 5G modems are very popular with customers that need the fastest possible speeds for large file downloads or uploads or who require access to secondary Bands to improve performance on a particular cellular carrier but don't mind occasional disconnects that can happen with any single modem device. For customers who require "mission-critical" internet stability, we recommend going with a dual-modem device. 5G modems require 5G data plans to connect at 5G speeds and are not compatible with all data plans. Data plans listed on this page are supported.

SpeedFusion Licensed

The device listed on this page is licensed for SpeedFusion access. SpeedFusion is Peplink's proprietary WAN bonding solution that can bond multiple internet connections together into a single, more resilient connection for added connection reliability. SpeedFusion capable devices create a VPN tunnel which allows multiple internet connections to act as a single connection. SpeedFusion supports WAN-Smoothing, a technology which helps to prevent packet-loss which is typically the cause for unstable internet connections. In order to utilize SpeedFusion you must either host your own SpeedFusion instance at a secondary location/datacenter, or utilize Peplink's SpeedFusion Cloud service which is available for an additional monthly subscription fee. This device includes 1TB of SpeedFusion cloud transfer at up to 100Mbps per second. For more information on SpeedFusion and SpeedFusion cloud please contact us below.

Roof Antenna Support

This mobile router comes with indoor antennas that provide 3db of cellular gain. Upgrading to an optional roof antenna can provide significant signal improvement by moving the cellular antenna outside, at higher elevation and provide you the benefit of an antenna with higher gain specifications. Roof antennas can be added now with a bundle discount by checking out our Internet Bundle Section, or at a later date based on your needs.

WiFi as WAN

This device supports Wifi-As-Wan meaning you can pick up public WiFi signals from hotspots, campgrounds, and other sources to rebroadcast them into your coach and use them as your local internet. The wireless antennas included with this modem will pick up these signals and rebroadcast them locally within your own WiFi network.

*Using public WiFi may be unreliable due to external environmental forces typically outside of customer's control and as such public WiFi is recommended to be used as a secondary backup connection.

Wi-Fi 6 expands the WiFi band from 80 MHz to 160 MHz, doubling the channel width and creating a faster connection from your router to the device. With Wi-Fi 6, you can enjoy 8K movies, large file downloads and uploads, and responsive smart home devices – all without buffering. WiFi 6 allows for speeds of up to 9.6 gigabits per second (Gbps), up from WiFi 5's 3.5 Gbps.

This means faster internal file transfers and less speed loss between the modem to your device.

FirstNet Ready

This device is FirstNet Ready! FirstNet is the nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to America's first responders. Being built with AT&T, in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet utilizes Band-14, which is reserved for public safety but is also being marketed as available to the public for additional bandwidth capacity. In testing Band-14 has been made available during non-emergency situations to the public to provide additional bandwidth and coverages to customers who have a modem that supports FirstNet's Band-14. Not all modems that support Band-14 are "FirstNet Certified" however they typically can connect to Band-14 in most areas. Information on FirstNet certifications can be found on Specification sheets located on the Documentation Tab. Additional information about FirstNet's use and technology can be found in this article from our friends at the RV Mobile Internet Resource Center.

Band 71 Ready

This device supports Band 71. Band 71 is T-Mobile's rural cellular band that operates on 600mhz which provides significant increases in coverage on the T-Mobile network for customers traveling outside of urban areas. 5G ready devices that support Band 71 typically also support Band 71n which is the 5G band for T-Mobile. Note that not all devices are 5G devices so check the listing above but with or without 5G you will still achieve increased coverage on the T-Mobile network with any device that supports Band 71. For more information about Band 71, check out the Band 71 Guide from our friends at the Mobile Internet Resource Center

Great Product for Heavy Usage

I work on the road and needed something that provided a variety of connectivity options, supported the latest in high speed LTE/5G capabilities, and allowed me to create a redundant tunnel for online collaboration (Teams). I'd previously had a Transit Duo but it was several years old and lacked the horsepower, cellular speeds, and LAN connectivity that I needed. I've been using this product for about 2 weeks now and it has been a dream. I'm on a pretty decent WIFI network where we are currently located (although it drops out fairly often) but my Office365/Teams connections back into the office have been rock solid.

Extremely flexbile and powerful but reasonably easy to set up

Super easy setup; the default settings got me up to speed quickly and worked quite well. This device is extremely customizable and powerful; it allows all kinds of flexibility and customization. A few of the advanced settings are difficult to find and require a bit of research to figure out, but that's a small price to pay for the flexibility of this router.

Nice Product!

Very fast - especially when converting from a Max Transit Duo. Not only are the connections fast, but the unit is fast. Saving and applying settings is almost instant (Transit Duo could take multiple seconds to nearly half a minute to save settings). Only complaint - I had to install a second Husky Parsec antenna due to the 8x cellular connections. I wish there was an antenna offering that fully matches this router's connection points and capabilities; would have preferred only having a single antenna on my roof!
