Single 5G. Integrated battery power. RoamLink multi-carrier connectivity. Built to go anywhere.

The ToughSignal Basecamp is our smallest and most portable enterprise connectivity case, built for teams that need serious 5G networking without carrying a larger deployment system. Built on Parsec's compact Boxer platform, Basecamp combines a Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G X65 router, integrated 7-in-1 antenna system, Omnicharge battery power, RoamLink multi-carrier connectivity, Ethernet access, USB-C charging, and active cooling into one rugged grab-and-go package.

At approximately 13 inches x 9.25 inches x 5.12 inches, Basecamp is designed around portability. It's small enough to fit into a backpack or carry alongside other field equipment while still delivering the routing, antenna performance, battery power, and professional support expected from a ToughSignal system.

It's built for field teams, live events, broadcast and media crews, temporary offices, emergency response, aviation operations, mobile command applications, remote worksites, network backup, and other deployments where a compact cellular connection needs to be ready to move.

Professional 5G in an Ultra-Portable Case

At the center of Basecamp is the Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G X65, an enterprise-grade router built around a single high-performance 5G cellular modem.

The BR1 Pro brings far more capability than a traditional hotspot, including advanced routing, Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet networking, SIM and eSIM support, remote management, and Peplink SpeedFusion technology in a compact platform engineered for professional deployments.

Basecamp is designed for applications where one powerful 5G connection is the right balance of performance, size, power consumption, and portability. Organizations requiring two simultaneous cellular modems can step up to the dual-5G ToughSignal Ascent, while deployments requiring integrated cellular plus satellite connectivity can move to the ToughSignal Summit.

7-in-1 Integrated Antenna System

Basecamp doesn't require a separate external antenna system. Its 7-in-1 antenna architecture is integrated directly into the enclosure and includes:

  • 4 cellular antenna elements for full 4x4 MIMO 5G connectivity
  • 2 Wi-Fi antenna elements
  • 1 GPS antenna

The four cellular elements give the BR1 Pro 5G a complete 4x4 MIMO antenna system designed to make effective use of modern LTE and 5G networks, including C-Band and other supported sub-6 GHz frequencies.

By integrating the antenna directly into the case, Basecamp eliminates separate antenna stands, loose coax cables, and additional setup steps. Place the system where cellular conditions are favorable, power it on, and deploy your network.

Built Around Portability

Basecamp is the ultra-portable member of the ToughSignal family. Where Ascent prioritizes dual-5G redundancy and increased battery capacity, and Summit adds integrated Starlink, Basecamp focuses on delivering professional cellular networking in the smallest practical package.

The rugged Boxer enclosure uses an impact-resistant construction designed for demanding field environments while keeping the complete system compact enough for mobile crews and rapid deployments.

This makes Basecamp particularly useful when equipment needs to move frequently between locations, ride in a vehicle, travel with a production team, or remain available as a compact emergency or backup connectivity system.

Integrated Omnicharge Battery Power

Basecamp includes an integrated Omnicharge Omni 30C+ based battery system, giving the router and supporting electronics portable power without requiring a permanent AC connection.

The Omni 30C+ platform provides approximately 94Wh / 25,600mAh of battery capacity in a compact format well matched to Basecamp's focus on mobility. Because Basecamp powers a single 5G router rather than dual cellular modems or an integrated Starlink terminal, it is designed for efficient portable operation.

Parsec rates battery-equipped Boxer configurations for approximately 12–18 hours of operation depending on equipment and usage. Actual Basecamp runtime will vary based on cellular activity, signal conditions, connected devices, Wi-Fi usage, environmental conditions, battery condition, and system configuration.

USB-C Power Makes Deployment Easier

Unlike the larger ToughSignal cases that use a traditional AC power inlet, Basecamp is designed around USB-C charging and power.

That makes it easier to integrate into vehicles, portable power systems, field kits, and other mobile environments where USB-C power is readily available. Connect an appropriate USB-C power source to recharge the onboard battery or support extended operation without carrying a proprietary external power system.

The USB-C power architecture is another reason Basecamp works especially well as a system that can be moved quickly from one deployment to another.

Ethernet When You Need More Than Wi-Fi

Despite its compact size, Basecamp isn't limited to operating as a wireless hotspot. The case provides two external Ethernet connections:

  • 1 configurable WAN/LAN Ethernet connection
  • 1 LAN Ethernet connection

Connect a computer, network switch, camera system, production equipment, access point, temporary network, or other wired device directly to Basecamp.

The configurable WAN/LAN connection can also be used in more advanced deployments to introduce another wired internet source or integrate Basecamp into a larger Peplink network design.

RoamLink Multi-Carrier Connectivity

Every ToughSignal Basecamp is configured for RoamLink multi-carrier connectivity, helping your team make use of multiple supported cellular networks without building a carrier strategy around a single provider.

Basecamp is preconfigured with RoamLink connectivity and includes 12 months of RoamLink data, with the included data allowance specified by the configuration selected on this product page.

The BR1 Pro 5G also provides physical SIM capability for organizations that maintain existing carrier-direct services. Supported customer SIMs can be incorporated into the ToughSignal configuration when a deployment requires RoamLink alongside corporate carrier accounts, FirstNet, or other supported services.

Peplink SpeedFusion Ready

The Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G gives Basecamp access to the broader Peplink SpeedFusion ecosystem.

While Basecamp contains a single cellular modem, SpeedFusion can become especially valuable when Basecamp is connected to another WAN source or incorporated into a larger Peplink deployment. Supported configurations can use technologies including Hot Failover, WAN Smoothing, and bandwidth bonding to help build more resilient connectivity for important applications.

Basecamp can also be incorporated into larger ToughSignal and Peplink deployments when additional WAN diversity or centralized network management is required.

Designed for Field Operation

The Parsec Boxer platform is engineered for portable and emergency communications applications, combining a rugged enclosure with integrated antennas, protected external connections, and active thermal management.

Basecamp incorporates active fan ventilation to help manage the heat generated by the 5G router during sustained operation.

The enclosure provides strong environmental protection when properly closed, but the addition of ventilation, charging connections, and Ethernet ports means Basecamp should not be treated as fully waterproof while operating. External connections and cooling openings should be appropriately protected from water and environmental exposure during use.

More Than a Router in a Box

ToughSignal systems are professionally engineered and assembled as complete connectivity solutions. Antennas, power, cooling, cabling, network connections, router configuration, and cellular provisioning are integrated together rather than leaving your team to assemble individual components in the field.

Basecamp arrives configured for its intended role so your organization can spend less time learning cellular bands, antenna design, Peplink configuration, SIM provisioning, WAN policies, and network troubleshooting and more time focused on the job the connection is there to support.

ToughCare Support Included

Every ToughSignal Basecamp includes ToughCare, our standard support and warranty program designed to help keep your system operating the way it was built and configured.

ToughCare includes component warranty support, ToughSignal system preconfiguration, connection setup information, and same-business-day technical support with a four-hour response SLA for issues related to the normal operation of the ToughSignal system.

Organizations requiring faster response and around-the-clock support can upgrade to ToughCare+. ToughCare+ builds on the standard ToughCare program with 24/7 technical support and an escalated two-hour response SLA for connectivity-related issues involving the ToughSignal system.

ToughCare and ToughCare+ are designed around support for the ToughSignal solution itself. Advanced routing, custom network engineering, third-party peripherals, specialized deployment requirements, and other project-specific services may be available separately through ToughSignal Enterprise Support.

Extended ToughCare coverage options are also available for organizations requiring multi-year support. Complete coverage, response commitments, exclusions, and service terms are provided in the applicable ToughCare service-level agreement.

Licensed for SpeedFusion

This device is licensed for SpeedFusion access. SpeedFusion is Peplink's proprietary WAN bonding solution that can bond multiple internet connections together into a single, more resilient connection for added connection reliability. SpeedFusion-capable devices create a VPN tunnel that allows multiple internet connections to act as a single connection. SpeedFusion supports WAN-Smoothing, a technology that helps to prevent packet loss which is typically the cause for unstable internet connections. In order to utilize SpeedFusion you must either host your own SpeedFusion instance at a secondary location/datacenter or use Peplink's SpeedFusion Cloud service which is available for an additional monthly subscription fee. This device includes data allotment for SpeedFusion cloud transfer at up to 100Mbps per second (amount of data will change based on the hardware). For more information on SpeedFusion and SpeedFusion Cloud, please reach out to us below.

Supports WiFi-as-WAN

This device supports WiFi-As-WAN, meaning you can pick up public WiFi signals from hotspots, campgrounds, and other sources to rebroadcast them into your coach and use them as your local internet. The wireless antennas included with this modem will pick up these signals and rebroadcast them locally within your own WiFi network.

*Using public WiFi may be unreliable due to external environmental forces typically outside of customer's control and as such public WiFi is recommended to be used as a secondary backup connection.

FirstNet Ready

This device is FirstNet Ready! FirstNet is the nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to America's first responders. Being built with AT&T, in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet utilizes Band-14, which is reserved for public safety but is also being marketed as available to the public for additional bandwidth capacity. In testing Band-14 has been made available during non-emergency situations to the public to provide additional bandwidth and coverages to customers who have a modem that supports FirstNet's Band-14. Not all modems that support Band-14 are "FirstNet Certified" however they typically can connect to Band-14 in most areas. Information on FirstNet certifications can be found on Specification sheets located on the Documentation Tab. Additional information about FirstNet's use and technology can be found in this article from our friends at the RV Mobile Internet Resource Center.
